PROGRAM:

1st DAY:

Morning arrival in Athens - Transfer to the center of ATHENS - Panoramic guided tour and a visit to ACROPOLIS – Lunch - NEW ACROPOLIS MUSEUM - Hotel/Check in – Rest – In the afternoon: Visit to CAPE SOUNION (Temple of Poseidon and Athena) via a magnificent coastal route (60 km - 75 in). – A visit to the archaeological site while admiring the marvelous sunset - Stopover for dinner on the way back to Athens (68 km – 1 ½ hr) – Free time – Overnight.

2nd DAY:

Breakfast - At 08.00 a.m. from Athens to the CORINTH CANAL and then to EPIDAURUS (126 km – 2 hrs) – A visit to ASCLEPION, the famous THEATRE with the unique acoustics and the MUSEUM – From Epidaurus to NAUPLION (35 km – 45 minutes). Nauplion is a very beautiful city, the first capital of Greece. Guided walk to the city - Lunch - From Nauplion to MYCENAE (22 km - 35 minutes) a major center of Mycenaean civilization which developed from 1600-1100 BC. A brief account of the tragic story of the Atreides Royal House - Lunch – A visit to the archaeological site, the Museum and the famous tomb of King Agamemnon – From Mycenae to ANCIENT OLYMPIA (190 km - 2 & ½ hrs) - Hotel/Check in – Dinner – Free time – Overnight.

3rd DAY:

Breakfast – At 08.00 a.m. a visit to the very important archaeological site of Ancient Olympia - The Sanctuary of Zeus and the Stadium. 5th DAY:

Breakfast - At 08.00 visit two of the Monasteries (on the rocks) METEORA - A visit to a laboratory of Byzantine icons - Lunch - From Kalabaka to THESSALONIKI (230 km - 2 ½ hrs) the capital of Macedonia (Northern Greece) and the second capital of Greece - Guided panoramic tour in Thessaloniki - Hotel/Check in - Dinner - Free time - Overnight.

6th DAY:

Breakfast - At 08.30 visit to the very important archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki. We'll be guided to the Prehistoric Macedonia, to Macedonia form the 7th c. BC until the late antiquity, to the gold of Macedonians, view Thessaloniki as Metropolis of Macedonia, e.t.c. - From Thessaloniki to PELLA (40 km – 45 minutes) – A visit to the very important archaeological site and the new Museum of Pella. Pella was the capital of the Macedonian state from the end of the fifth - beginning of the fourth century BC until the domination of Romans in 168 BC and the moving of the capital to Thessaloniki – Lunch – From Pella to ORMA/ LOUTRAKI (65 km – 1 hr approx.). Loutraki and Orma are magnificent areas of natural beauty, with thermal springs, at the foothills of mountain Voras – Hotel/Check in – Rest – Free time for a walk to the Nature – Dinner – Overnight.

7th DAY:

Breakfast - At 08.00 from Orma to VERGINA (78 km – 1 ½ hr) – A visit to the Museum, the building where are protected the royal tombs of Vergina, the tomb of the King Philippos II is included – From Vergina to DION, at the foothills of mountain Olympos, the mountain of the Gods (78 km – 1 hr 10 minutes) – Lunch - Dion was the most important sacred city of the Macedonians. A visit to the archaeological site, to admire the walls, the Sanctuary of Zeus Olympios, of Demeter, of Isis, the great thermae, Villa of Dionysos, Ancient and Roman Theatre, Necropolis and the city of Dion – Visit to the Museum - We continue to LITOCHORON (15 km – 20 minutes) – Hotel/Check in – Rest – Free time for a walk to the unique area at the foothills of Olympos, the Mountain of the Gods – Dinner – Overnight.

8th DAY:

Breakfast - Free time for a walk to the unique area - At 10.00 a.m. from Litochoron to KAMENA VOURLA (250 km - 3 hrs) - Intermediate stopover in THERMOPYLES, the area where the homonymous battle took place, in 480 B.C. Visit to the monument of Leonidas the king of Spartans - Lunch in Kamena Vourla the beautiful, coastal area - From Kamena Vourla to ATHENS (175 km - 1 ¾ hr) - Hotel/Check in - Rest - Interactive discussion about our impressions - Dinner - Free time / Athens by night - Overnight.

9th DAY:

Breakfast - Shopping - Transfer to Athens airport.
