Greece is the cradle of Philosophy.Aristotle is one of the most well-known Philosophers, globally. He born in Stagira, Halkidiki, Macedonia (Northern Greece). At the age of seventeen, he came in Athens and was apprenticed in the Platonic Academy until his thirty-seven. He was a student of Plato and the tutor of Alexander the Great. Aristotle's philosophy was moved from the Platonism and based to the Empiricism.

Apart from the tour program, lectures will be given and interactive discussions will be held, on the following topics:

1. Aristotle, the famous Greek Philosopher, student of Plato and the tutor of Alexander the Great. Lecture A

2. The Philosophy of Aristotle - Empiricism. Lecture B.

3. The Philosophy of Aristotle : The influence on Western Thought and Science. Lecture C.

4. Interactive discussions during the program, about some parts of texts of Aristotle and the connection between Philosophy and our modern life.

PROGRAM:

1st DAY:

Arrival at Macedonia airport of Thessaloniki - Transfer to the center of THESSALONIKI the capital of Macedonia (Northern Greece) and the second capital city of Greece – Panoramic guided tour - Lunch - Hotel/Check in - Rest - In the afternoon, a brief presentation of our program and Lecture A – Free time to walk near the beautiful coast - Dinner – Overnight.

2nd DAY:

Breakfast – At 08.30 a.m. from Thessaloniki to STAGIRA, Halkidiki (100 km – 1 ½ hr) - Via a very scenic route, close the lakes, we'll arrive to the birthplace of Aristotle, the city of Stagira. The city was founded in 655 B.C. by colonists from Andros Aegean island – From Stagira to OURANOUPOLIS (40 km – 45 minutes), the city before the entrance to ATHOS (Agion Horos). The route is magnificent - Lunch - We'll return back to Thessaloniki circularly, from another magnificent route: Ouranoupolis – Nikiti – Moudania - Thessaloniki (150 km – 2 ½ hrs) – Rest - Dinner (Thessaloniki is very famous for the delicious food, seafood, delicacies e.t.c.) - Free time – Overnight.

3rd DAY:

Breakfast – At 08.30 a.m., a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki. We'll be guided to the Prehistoric Macedonia, to Macedonia fροm the 7th c. BC until the late antiquity, to the gold of Macedonians. We'll view Thessaloniki as Metropolis of Macedonia, e.t.c. - From Thessaloniki to PELLA (40 km – 45 minutes) – Guided tour to the archaeological site and the new Museum of Pella. Pella was the capital of the Macedonian state from the end of the fifth - beginning of the fourth century BC until the domination of Romans in 168 BC and the moving of the capital to Thessaloniki – Lunch – From Pella to ORMA/ LOUTRAKI (65 km – 1 hr approx.). Loutraki and Orma are magnificent areas of natural beauty, with thermal springs, at the foothills of mountain Voras – Hotel/Check in – Rest – Free time to walk to the marvelous Nature – Dinner – Interactive discussion – Overnight.

4th DAY:

Breakfast – At 08.30 from Orma to NYMPHAION, the area of Hemathia, where the School of Aristotle was operating (38 km – 45 minutes). Here, Alexander the Great and other young boys from rich families were being apprenticed – Visit to the Macedonian tombs of the area named MIESA - From Miesa to AGIOS NIKOLAOS / NAOUSA in amazing view, near the river – Lunch – Hotel/Check in – Rest – In the afternoo, Lecture B will be given and interactive discussion will be held– Dinner – Free time for a walk to the beautiful area – Overnight.

5th DAY:

Breakfast – At 08.30 a.m. from Naousa to VERGINA (33 km – 40 minutes) – A visit to the Museum, the building where are protected the royal tombs of Vergina, the tomb of the King Philippos II is included – From Vergina to DION, at the foothills of mountain Olympos, the mountain of the Gods (78 km – 1 hr 10 minutes) – Lunch - Dion was the most important sacred city of the Macedonians. A visit to the archaeological site, where the walls, the Sanctuary of Zeus Olympios, of Demeter, of Isis, the great thermae, Villa of Dionysos, the Ancient and Roman Theatre, Necropolis and the city of Dion – A visit to the Museum - From Dion to LITOCHORON (15 km – 20 minutes) – Hotel/Check in – Rest – Free time for a walk to the unique area at the foothills of the Mountain of the Gods, Olympos – Dinner – Interactive discussion – Overnight.

6th DAY:

Breakfast – At 08.00 a.m. from Litochoron to ATHENS (420 km – 4 ½ hrs) – Hotel/Check in – Lunch – Rest – Lecture C / Interactive discussion – Dinner – Free time for a walk to the unique atmosphere of Plaka – Overnight.

7th DAY:

Breakfast – At 08.00 a.m. guided Panoramic tour of Athens - A visit to Acropolis and Acropolis Museum – Lunch – Rest – In the afternoon a visit to Akadimia of Plato, to the Lyceum of Aristotle – We'll continue to Cape Sounion via a magnificent coastal route (76 km – 1 hr 40 minutes). We'll visit the Temple of Poseidon and Athena and we'll admire the magnificent sunset – Stopover for dinner on the way back to Athens – Free time – Overnight.

8th DAY:

Breakfast – Shopping – Transfer to Athens airport.

1. During the tours, stopovers are made. In summer some of these stopovers may include beautiful spots for swimming.

2. Sometimes the discussions continue en route.
